You have the right to know the estimated cost of your medical care. Under federal law, healthcare providers must give uninsured or self-pay patients a Good Faith Estimate outlining expected charges for non-emergency medical services and items. This estimate includes potential costs for related services such as diagnostic tests, prescriptions, medical equipment, and hospital fees associated with your treatment.

Be sure to request a Good Faith Estimate in writing from your healthcare provider at least one business day before any scheduled procedures or treatments. You can ask any provider for an estimate of costs before receiving care. This estimate helps you understand and plan for your financial responsibility, offering greater transparency in your healthcare expenses.
